- Biographical or historical data
- Hana Hiraina Erlbeck was born in the heart of Ngati Porou. She grew up surrounded by kinfolk who fed her with the customs and traditions of the tribe. Underlying the oral tradition of her pakeke (elders) was a strong spritual pulse that sent the knowledge from her tipuna into the storytellers of each generation. This first book is her response to that pulse which insists on being acknowledged. Hana is married with three adult children and is currently teaching in Auckland.
